Hampton Roads Executive Airport forms strategic alliance with Avfuel

Hampton Roads Executive Airport (KPVG) has partnered with leading independent aviation fuel and services supplier, Avfuel Corporation, in a strategic move to enhance the general aviation experience in Southeastern Virginia.

“Partnering with Avfuel marks a defining step in our journey,” said Steven Fox, managing member of Virginia Aviation Associates LLC and owner of Hampton Roads Executive Airport. “We’re committed to raising the bar for every pilot, passenger and operator who chooses KPVG. Avfuel’s reputation for reliability, quality and aviation expertise aligns perfectly with our goals for growth and a high standard of service.”

Through the partnership, Hampton Roads Executive Airport will benefit from Avfuel’s high-quality fuel supply and operational support, including FAA-approved line service and supervisory training. Operators fueling up at KPVG now gain access to lucrative rewards through AVTRIP, competitive fuel prices with Avfuel Contract Fuel, streamlined transactions with Avfuel Pro Card acceptance, and access to Avfuel’s sustainability tools like book and claim for sustainable aviation fuel and carbon offsetting.

“We’re thrilled to introduce Avfuel’s extensive contract fuel program and lucrative AVTRIP pilot rewards program to Hampton Roads Executive Airport,” said Fox. “These offerings add tremendous value for our customers, expanding their access to competitive pricing, international fuel support and loyalty rewards within Avfuel’s trusted network.”

Together, the two companies will deliver streamlined refueling operations and enhanced support services backed by Avfuel’s global infrastructure and commitment to innovation. Current based tenants and transient aircraft at KPVG are already experiencing the operational benefits of the new partnership firsthand with two new, larger Avfuel trucks operating on the apron - a sign of the airport’s commitment to enhanced service and efficiency with the help of Avfuel.

“We couldn’t be more proud to align Avfuel’s brand with that of Hampton Roads Executive Airport,” said Joel Hirst, Avfuel’s senior vice president of sales. “KPVG has long held a reputation for outstanding customer care and is dedicated to investing in not only its airfield, but also the industry at large - a commitment Avfuel shares with its own investments and network-wide initiatives.”

Indeed, the announcement comes as Hampton Roads Executive Airport continues an ambitious, multi-phase expansion plan that has already transformed it into one of Virginia’s premier aviation facilities. Most recently, the airport completed a $20 million expansion project to open a new, 96,000-square-foot jetport complex on the airfield, which includes eight 12,000-square-foot corporate hangars - five on the west side of the complex, three on the east side - –and an elegant, full-service FBO designed for traveler comfort and operational efficiency.

The expansion project brought the total square footage of hangar space on the field to over 500,000. An impressive array of corporate, jet, business, maintenance and T-hangars are in place to ensure all types of aviation businesses are supported, including the airport’s 150+ based aircraft.

Since Fox and his partners acquired the airport in 2000, the ownership group has invested more than $80 million in infrastructure improvements to develop the privately-owned, public-use reliever airport. Along with the jetport complex, these developments have included a 5,350-foot runway, a parallel taxiway and multiple new hangar facilities situated on the 664-acre airport, which conveniently sits at the intersection of Interstates 64, 664 and 264, and U.S. 58, providing exceptional access for regional travelers.

Beyond infrastructure, Hampton Roads Executive Airport is positioning itself as a regional hub for advanced air mobility (AAM) and aviation innovation. Future development phases include facilities to accommodate electric and hydrogen aircraft, as well as infrastructure for alternative fuel technologies - further aligning with Avfuel’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions.

Today, KPVG ranks second among Virginia’s 57 general-aviation airports and supports more than 90,000 annual aircraft operations, serving as home to over 30 aviation businesses.
