MIU Events files for voluntary liquidation

Following last month's announcement of the cancellation of two business aviation conferences organised by Chichester-based MIU Events Ltd - ROC at the London Heliport and BAE2014 at London Biggin Hill Airport - MIU Chairman, Alan Perry, has confirmed that he is placing the company in voluntary liquidation and has issued the following statement:

"MIU Events is in the process of being placed in voluntary liquidation.

Following a tough trading climate throughout the recession and the decision taken by London Biggin Hill airport not to assist or support this year's Business Aircraft Europe (BAE), MIU Events has filed for voluntary liquidation.

The decision not to run this year's BAE was outside the control of the organisers. Alan Perry, the chairman of MIU Events has invested over £200,000 of his own capital in the business and has paid staff and suppliers out of his own pocket. Another investor has also contributed over £70,000 but the cancellation of this year's event tipped the business over the edge.

The MIU Events website is no longer operating and we cannot receive emails addressed to MIU Events. Contrary to reports on some blogs, Alan Perry is based in the UK and there has been no impropriety on his part or any of the MIU personnel."

The statement ends by saying that all enquiries should be addressed to the insolvency practitioners:
