Toulouse, FranceAirbus: Business aviation seeing growing demand from governments |
Airbus Corporate Jets has published its latest research, based on a global survey of 280 business aviation financiers and brokers, revealing growing demand from governments and government departments to buy or charter business aircraft.
The trend reflects an increasingly complex geopolitical environment and a rise in international diplomacy, driving demand for secure, flexible and reliable air transport.
Business aviation is taking on a broader role beyond traditional executive transportation, with aircraft supporting diplomatic travel, crisis response, humanitarian missions, medical evacuation and repatriation. For governments, these aircraft are becoming mission-critical assets capable of responding to complex operational needs at short notice.
Chadi Saade, President of Airbus Corporate Jets commented: “The findings demonstrate just how significantly the role of business aviation is evolving within government. The current geopolitical environment has increased the need for governments to be able to move people quickly, securely and reliably, often at short notice and into challenging operating environments.
“For our government customers, an aircraft is much more than a transport solution. It can become a mission-critical tool supporting diplomacy, humanitarian assistance, medical evacuation, repatriation and crisis response. The combination of range, reliability, flexibility and the ability to configure an aircraft for different missions is becoming increasingly important.
"Furthermore, in consideration of their taxpayers and budgetary constraints, these customers are eager to minimise acquisition and operating costs. This is where the ACJ’s airliner DNA plays a significant role in keeping costs to a minimum and maximising productivity of these assets thanks to their exceptional reliability.”
Key insights:
91% of respondents have seen an increase in governments or government departments looking to purchase or charter business aircraft

Around 50% of Airbus Corporate Jets’ customers are government entities, using aircraft as mission-critical assets rather than simply as a means of executive transportation.
Germany's Air Mission Wing
Germany’s Special Air Mission Wing operates a diverse fleet of 18 aircraft, including ACJ319, A321neo, and ACJ350 models. The Wing serves a mission-critical function, connecting political leaders to the right places at the right time to drive impactful decisions and facilitate international cooperation.

The fleet provides senior leaders with the agility to reach global destinations quickly, safely, reliably, and on time ensuring they are present for crucial appointments that shape global outcomes.
The fleet’s capabilities extend beyond government transport. The A321neo and ACJ319 models utilise modular Patient Transport Units (PTU). This allows the Wing to facilitate strong and fast European air medical evacuations and repatriation flights, providing immediate, life-saving support where it is needed most.
Slovak Government Flight Service
The Slovak Government Flight Service’s “Flight and Shelter” module is at the heart of Slovakia’s humanitarian commitment. Operated in a unique international partnership between the government and non-governmental organisations- the Samaritan Association of the Slovak Republic and Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe of Austria and Germany - it provides an example of how government aircraft are being deployed beyond conventional state transport.

The Slovak government operates two ACJ319 aircraft to support its vital state and rescue, and humanitarian missions. In two years of operation, the “Euracare flight and shelter” program has completed more than 12 missions and transported more than 900 people. High-stakes operations have included complex medical evacuations from Gaza as well as rapid repatriation from countries such as Egypt, Cyprus and Romania.
The extended range and flexible cabins of the ACJ aircraft allow it to support a variety of state, evacuation and medical missions. Slovakia is planning to expand its humanitarian fleet further to significantly enhance overall passenger capacity and increased cargo space to further maximise their global reach and operational efficiency.
ACJ offers the world’s most modern and comprehensive range of corporate jets, from the ACJ TwoTwenty and ACJ320neo to widebodies like the ACJ330neo and ACJ350.
