Ferrari boss Piero Ferrari takes delivery of 200th Challenger 3500

Bombardier has delivered its 200th Challenger 3500 business jet to Piero Ferrari, Vice Chairman of Ferrari, marking a major milestone for the super-midsize aircraft less than four years after entering service.

The aircraft will support Ferrari’s travel to Formula One races and other business engagements, combining the performance, efficiency and cabin comfort required for extensive international travel.

The delivery brings together one of business aviation’s leading super-midsize jets with one of the world’s most recognisable names in mobility, design and engineering.

“Delivering the 200th Challenger 3500 jet is a defining milestone for Bombardier and a powerful testament to the aircraft’s remarkable success in the super-midsize segment,” said David Murray, Bombardier’s Executive Vice President, Manufacturing, IT and Bombardier Operational Excellence System.

The Challenger 3500 has built strong market momentum since its entry into service, with Bombardier saying it has outdelivered every other business jet model in the medium and heavy categories since its first full year of deliveries in 2023.

The aircraft combines what Bombardier describes as the lowest direct operating costs in its class with strong performance, versatility and a refined cabin. It is also gaining traction among major fleet operators, with recent commitments from BOND, NetJets and VistaJet.

The Challenger 3500’s cabin features several innovations, including the business aviation industry’s first voice-controlled cabin and Bombardier’s Nuage seat, originally introduced on the Global 7500.

The aircraft also carries an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), part of Bombardier’s wider sustainability strategy. The manufacturer says its entire portfolio of in-production aircraft now has published EPDs, making it the only business jet manufacturer to have done so across its current portfolio.

For Bombardier, the 200th delivery reinforces the Challenger 3500’s position as a leading aircraft in the super-midsize category. For Ferrari, the aircraft provides a high-performance platform suited to the demands of a global business and Formula One schedule.
