LondonACC Aviation examines Europe’s increasing private jet demand ahead of Summer amid evolving travel trends |
As Europe heads towards the busy summer travel period, Charlie Wilcox, Director of Charter at ACC Aviation, highlights demand for private aviation - particularly from April through to the peak month of July - during which business jet traffic typically increases by as much as 70%.
“We see this trend year after year,” says Wilcox. “Private jet traffic begins to build in the spring and really accelerates into the summer. Even during COVID, the June to September period remained the strongest for business aviation, which shows just how resilient and essential private travel has become.”
This seasonal trend is supported by broader market data. Across Europe, flights - including business jets and turboprops – have risen by 0.8% year-on-year in February, with a modest but steady increase of 0.6% recorded year-to-date through February 2026 versus 2025.
While overall growth continues, certain markets are seeing significant momentum, most notably Italy, where private aviation activity has surged by 20%, driven by the ski season and Winter Olympics.
From a global perspective, Europe continues to play an important - albeit smaller - role in private aviation activity. In 2026, Europe accounts for 11.2% of global business jet departures year-to-date, compared to North America’s dominant 68.5%. This reflects a continuation of 2025 trends, where Europe represented 10.5% of global departures, versus 66.8% in North America.
Within Europe, the United Kingdom leads in terms of departures, followed by France, Germany and Italy.
“We are also seeing a shift in customer behaviour, partly influenced by the situation in the Middle East, which could drive further demand for private jet travel within Europe,” Wilcox explains.
“While destinations such as Qatar and the UAE are typically served by widebody aircraft offering exceptional comfort, many European leisure routes - such as Cyprus or Greece - are operated by narrowbody aircraft. As a result, clients choosing to holiday within Europe are increasingly opting for private jets, where scheduled services may not offer the same level of comfort.”
“Fuel prices are another key factor influencing client decisions,” Wilcox adds. “For example, we are already seeing clients who previously flew long-haul routes, such as Miami to Venice, by private jet, now choosing to travel via scheduled services to major hubs like Paris, before continuing onwards by private aircraft. This shift is largely driven by the increased cost of long-haul private flying and may, in turn, contribute to higher private jet activity within Europe.”
Despite the increase, ACC Aviation continues to see strong aircraft availability across most categories.
“Availability for private jets is generally very good throughout the year, including during the summer peak,” Wilcox explains. “At ACC Aviation, we’re typically able to source the right aircraft for our clients, whether it’s a short business trip or a longer leisure itinerary. However, prices can fluctuate as demand increases closer to the summer period.”

Among the most in-demand private jets are light jets such as the Cessna Citation CJ2, ideal for up to six passengers travelling on sectors of around three hours. For clients flying across Europe, the midsize Cessna Citation XLS offers additional space and flexibility, while larger aircraft such as the Embraer Praetor 600 provide a premium, longer-range solution - combining comfort and performance for journeys of up to five to six hours.
“When it comes to aircraft selection, cost remains a key driver for private individuals and families, particularly when opting for smaller aircraft,” Wilcox notes. “In contrast, corporate clients tend to prioritise comfort and efficiency – especially for multi-stop itineraries or longer journeys – where productivity and overall travel experience are more important than cost alone.”
Availability can become more constrained in specific aircraft segments - most notably helicopters.
“Helicopters are always in high demand during the summer, particularly around major events like Royal Ascot and Silverstone,” says Wilcox. “They offer unmatched convenience, especially for clients who want to land as close as possible to the event. But because the fleet size is limited, availability can tighten when demand spikes.”
While last-minute bookings, particularly for business and urgent travel, remain a key part of ACC Aviation’s offering, Wilcox reiterates that early engagement is crucial for event-led travel.
“We always advise clients to speak to us as soon as their plans are viable,” Wilcox adds. “While we can absolutely deliver on last-minute requests - and that is the beauty of on-demand charter - major events bring additional challenges, especially around airport slots. The earlier you book, the more options you have in terms of schedule.”
Earlier planning is not unusual. ACC Aviation has seen clients securing summer travel arrangements months in advance, with some requests arriving as early as December.
“As we get closer to the summer, demand intensifies significantly,” Wilcox notes. “We’re already supporting clients with travel to key events, such as the Monaco Grand Prix, where we’ve also been able to assist with premium access and hospitality through our trusted partners.”
This integrated approach reflects ACC Aviation’s broader commitment to delivering a seamless, end-to-end experience.
“Our aim at ACC Aviation is always to go beyond just arranging the flight,” Wilcox says. “Where possible, we work with carefully selected partners to help create a fully tailored experience - whether that’s helping secure exclusive event access or advising and coordinating additional elements of the journey.”
“With demand expected to follow the steady growth seen in recent years, we anticipate another busy summer season across Europe,” Wilcox concludes. “However, we must also remain mindful of ongoing market volatility – particularly rising fuel costs – which could have a broader impact on the industry if sustained. That said, as long as client demand for private aviation remains strong, we expect overall activity to continue trending upwards.”
