Connecting You Now

If we’re networking, you’re working

By Michael Skou Christensen, Chief Commercial Officer, Gogo.

Connectivity solutions for business aviation invariably involve discussions about networks; after all, without the satellite networks, there would be limited options for staying in touch with colleagues, family, and friends.

The value and faith we place in these networks to support connectivity is immense. Owners and operators using the cabin broadband expect it to work. They want to do what they need, whether it’s reading the latest news, tracking their company’s stock, or streaming the newest box-office releases, when they want, without issue.

At Gogo, we have another network that we value just as much as the satellite networks. This is our ever-expanding dealer and MRO network. Currently comprising more than 150 dealers with a presence in over 250 locations globally the latest entities to join the elite list include Nomad Technics of Switzerland, Falcon in the UAE, and Elektronik Lab India Private Limited.

Not all networks are made equal, and to ensure customers have access to best-in-class representation, we are careful to select MRO partners with the capability not only to install our connectivity solutions, but also to effectively explain the complexities of modern connectivity to their customers. Easily overlooked, but vitally important, is the personal aspect of that relationship – business aviation is a small but global industry where reputation, trust, and transparency are held in high regard. These are all crucial elements in our approval process.

The global presence is also extremely important for operators, as it means our customers can upgrade or maintain their equipment as close to their operating territory as possible. Near proximity means shorter positioning hours, reduced downtime, and customers can speak to their dealer and maintenance provider in their own language. All of which enables seamless connectivity management. The quality of these companies and their geographic spread demonstrate our commitment to supporting our customers wherever they fly.

These MRO and dealer partnerships are vital to the customer-facing component of our business, and we invest significant time and resources to ensure they can represent us in the best way possible through comprehensive support, training and constant communications. Business and VIP aviation customers expect the same connectivity in the air as they take for granted on the ground, and while Gogo insiders delight in using Ku, LEO, latency, Ka, ATG, LX5, and other favourites, these terms are largely irrelevant to the passenger or aircraft crew connectivity experience.

If we’re networking, you’re working

Helping our dealers and MRO partners simplify the information about, access to and management of the connectivity experience, without the complexity, is therefore a critical aspect of Gogo’s sales and support process. The aircraft owner is likely far more interested in being able to conduct a consistent, reliable Teams call than in knowing there is a Ku-band Gogo Galileo antenna on the roof, connecting to Eutelsat OneWeb’s LEO satellite network, and an AVANCE LX5 box in the avionics bay. An MRO or dealer that can easily explain the benefits of each system is invaluable not just to us but to our mutual customers.

This is why we support our partners through every phase of sales, installation and entry into service; there is more to Gogo’s relationship with its trusted dealers and MROs than a box of couriered components and a support phone number. Gogo purpose-designs reliable equipment to meet the rigorous demands of business, military, and government aviation needs. We want to enable predictable installation requirements, seamless upgrades, and a prepared MRO should an end user require technical or maintenance support. We are there alongside these partners, whether they are installing an air-to-ground system for the hundredth time or developing a Gogo Galileo STC.

Gogo’s position within the competitive connectivity landscape is founded on delivering aviation-grade solutions through a trusted dealer and installation partner network, backed up by industry-leading support. We know that our dealers and MROs take customer care and support as seriously as we do, which is how we continue to deliver connectivity to more than 8000 aircraft online each day. Networking is crucial to our ability to deliver connectivity beyond expectations, so while we’re networking, we’re ensuring our customers are working.
