AXIS qualifies first US-based Level D CL350 simulator for Vista America

Leading training solutions provider, AXIS Flight Simulation, has achieved FAA Level D qualification for a Bombardier Challenger CL350 full-flight simulator (FFS) developed for Vista America, an operating partner of Vista.

The state-of-the-art CL350 FFS was unveiled at Vista America’s headquarters in Columbus, Ohio. The milestone marks AXIS’s first Level D CL350 FFS in the United States and the company’s third training device in the country - two of which are dedicated to business jet training.

The FFS is equipped with a Van Halteren motion system and RSi XT6 visual system, with a 200x45 field of view (FOV), as well as a Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 Advanced rehosted avionics system. Optional features include Controller–Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC), an Electronic Checklist (ECL), and steep approach capability.

It is also certified for Localiser Performance with Vertical guidance (LPV), Required Navigation Performance (RNP), and Runway Awareness and Advisory System/Smart Runway (RAAS/SR).

AXIS Flight Simulation's CL350 FFS, developed for Vista AmericaDavid Stanley, President of Vista America, says: “We’re proud to deliver the consistency, safety, and elevated experience that Vista clients know and expect - wherever they fly. Having a Bombardier Challenger CL350 FFS at our Vista America headquarters allows us to conduct comprehensive in-house pilot training, giving us complete control over curriculum quality, and performance standards.

"Operating up to 16 hours a day, seven days a week, the simulator supports every stage of pilot development and brings new agility and consistency to our training ecosystem. We’re equally proud to partner with AXIS, a leading provider of advanced flight simulation technology, whose expertise made this milestone possible.”

Christian Theuermann, Executive Board Member at AXIS, says: “Qualifying our first Bombardier CL350 simulator in the United States is a significant milestone for AXIS. Not only does this mark our third FFS installation in the country, but it also reflects our ability to deliver highly specialised training devices tailored to the needs of global operators.

“In this case, we completed the full flight test programme and data gathering with our partner Aeroset, ensuring the device met all FAA requirements and offers the highest levels of realism and technical performance. We’re especially proud to support Vista America, a recognized leader in North America, whose world-class operations set the standard for consistent and highly efficient pilot training and development. This collaboration exemplifies our commitment to advancing flight training standards and expanding our global footprint.”
