Fractional Operators drive record September growth

In Week 38 (15-21 September), global bizjet activity reached 78,800 departures, down 1% compared to the prior week (Week 37) and up 6% versus Week 38 of 2024.

Looking at the rolling last 52 weeks, Week 38 was the 4th busiest, while Week 26 remains the leader, with a total of 79,930 bizjet departures, while the slowest week is still Week 2 2025 recording 60,319 departures.

Global bizjet September month-to-date (1-21 September) traffic has seen exceptional growth compared to the first three weeks of September last year. So far in September, global bizjets have recorded 232,920 flights, an 11% increase compared to the same period last year, and the busiest first three weeks of September seen in the past 6 years.

This growth is primarily driven by Fractional Ownership operators, which have reached 45,205 flights (19% of all flight activity) and is up 19% compared to 1-21 September 2024. Of those Fractional Ownership providers driving this exceptional increase in September flying are NetJets (+23% YOY), Flexjet (+25% YOY), Airsprint (+22% YOY), Planesense (+22% YOY), and Jetfly Aviation (+20% YOY).

Through the first three weeks in September, these five operators have accounted for 86% of all Fractional bizjet traffic, and 17% of total global bizjet traffic.

Florida Part 91K and 135 growth stood out with 16% gains versus Week 38 2024.

Europe: Modest 3% gains across major markets

The highlight in Europe was Italy performing in line with the global trend, recording 6% more flights than in W38 last year. The UK outperformed the overall Europe trend, posting 4% more traffic year-on-year, while German traffic expanded 3%, and both France and Switzerland grew 2%. Over the last four weeks, European activity has totaled just over 51,000 flights, reflecting only modest 3% growth.

Current Events Analysis

Ryder Cup expected to boost NYC traffic 2.5x
The 2025 Ryder Cup takes place this weekend, 26-28 September, at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York, marking the 45th biennial clash between Team USA and Team Europe in one of golf's most prestigious competitions. The challenging Long Island
venue, known for its demanding layout and passionate New York crowds, is expected to draw significant business aviation traffic as corporate sponsors, VIPs, and golf enthusiasts converge for the three-day team competition.

Business jet traffic patterns from the 2023 Ryder Cup at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club in Rome provide insight into potential activity levels for New York City area airports this weekend. Rome airports recorded 226 business jet movements during the 28 September-1 October 2023 tournament period, compared to typical Thursday-Sunday activity of just over 90 flights in 2023—essentially 2.5 times normal weekend traffic. With New York City airports averaging over 1400 business jet movements over typical Thursday-Sunday periods in 2025, the Rome precedent suggests NYC could see over 3000 flights this weekend if similar traffic multipliers apply.

Managing Director Richard Koe comments: “September has been exceptional with 11% growth driven primarily by fractional operators like NetJets and Flexjet posting 20%+ increases.

"The strength we're seeing in Part 91K operations shows the fractional model is really resonating with travelers.

"With the Ryder Cup this weekend, we could see New York area airports hit over 3000 flights based on what we saw in Rome in 2023.”
