VAS celebrates 45 years of unparalleled service to the aviation industry

VAS Aero Services, a global leader in aviation logistics and repair support, is celebrating 45 years of excellence in aircraft transition management, Used Serviceable Materials (USM) parts supply and aviation aftermarket services.

“VAS has a lengthy aviation industry heritage and through the years has forged valued relationships with the top names in aviation, from Airbus, Boeing and Embraer to SR Technics, Tarmac Aerosave and the Dr. Peters Group,” says VAS CEO Tommy Hughes. “We have grown and prospered for 45 years thanks to the boundless efforts of a dedicated team of aviation professionals at VAS Aero Services who work tirelessly each day to earn the trust and confidence of our more than 2,500 customers.”

Founded in 1979 as the AGES Group by three aviation industry veterans, the company was acquired by Volvo Aero Corp in 1999, eventually becoming VAS Aero Services. In 2022 VAS became part of the Airbus Group when the company was acquired by Airbus’s Satair USA subsidiary. Today, VAS is a wholly owned, independently operated subsidiary of Satair, with locations in North America, the UK, Europe, southeast Asia and Australia.

Along its 45-year journey, VAS has established itself as a go-to source for aviation parts and components thanks to its global reach, unmatched USM inventory and rapid response to customer needs.

“A commitment to innovation and our willingness to invest in the training, resources and technologies necessary to meet growing demand has resulted in VAS selling nearly $4 Billion-worth of new and used parts and materiel since the company’s inception,” Hughes notes.

Citing the company’s innovations in aviation lifecycle management, aircraft transition and teardown, and USM serviceability readiness, Hughes adds that “VAS now boasts one of the industry’s most active aircraft teardown, parts harvesting and USM redistribution programs, with more than $3.7bn in aircraft and engines under management - placing VAS at the forefront of the sustainability movement in the aviation business.”

VAS maintains state-of-the-art warehouses as well as a global sourcing and sales network, optimizing the distribution of aviation material by positioning personnel and operations close to customers and partners around the world.

“VAS’s commitment to geographic expansion has resulted in an ability to efficiently manage aircraft/engine teardowns, parts repairs, and re-distribution - while optimizing cost and speed to market for customers, no matter where they may be.”
