MontrealIndustry figurehead Rob Dewar presented with inaugural Elite Wings Distinguished Achievement Award |
Elite Wings, the international aviation guides and events business, has presented Rob Dewar, Senior Vice President, A220 Customer Satisfaction, Services and Product Policy, with its inaugural Elite Wings Distinguished Achievement Award.
The award was given at the June Elite Wings Summer Aviation Summit, held in Montreal, Canada, which this year focused on debating and discussing opportunities within the business aviation sector.
Dewar began his storied career in aviation after earning his bachelor’s degree in engineering from McGill University. During his 30-year career, he held many senior roles in engineering and product development, including on the Bombardier Challenger 300 and Global Express programs, before taking on his current role with Airbus.

Among his most notable accomplishments was his pivotal leadership role in developing the Bombardier CSeries program, now known as the Airbus A220. The aircraft is recognized as the best in the small single-aisle category for its efficiency, passenger appeal, and reduced environmental footprint. More than 900 have been sold so far and have transported more than 100 million passengers over one million flight cycles. The corporate version of the A220 is known as the ACJ TwoTwenty. Dewar’s hard work, resilience, professionalism, and team spirit were the backbone of this program’s success.
“I am extremely honoured and humbled to be the first recipient of this prestigious award from Elite Wings,” said Dewar. “I have been blessed to work with the best in the business, and I hope that our joint efforts have allowed everyone, no matter their seat, to experience a first-class flight as a result of our work. I allow myself to repeat that aviation is a genuine passion of mine, and for decades, I have done my best each and every day to influence the industry positively.”
Elite Wings introduced the new award to celebrate an aviation individual’s outstanding accomplishments in the field. Recipients are selected based on various criteria, including their contribution to aerospace evolution, their role as a guiding light for the development of innovative, industry-defining products and services, and their contribution to supporting a sustainable aviation future.
“Our Distinguished Achievement Award aims to recognize true figureheads within the industry. We are constantly in awe of those who move the needle on our aviation landscape and are supporting the goals for a sustainable future in terms of environment, workforce, and industry,” said Viswanath Tata, Director of Editorial Content for Elite Wings.
“We wanted to launch an award to acknowledge those who lead and inspire their colleagues and the industry and actively encourage the next generation of aviators by sharing their experience and insight. Rob Dewar is exemplary in all these categories, and we’re delighted to present our first award to him.”
