United KingdomAir Partner joins Equal Skies Charter to improve access to the industry for people with disabilities |
Global aviation services group, Air Partner, has announced a new partnership with Equal Skies Charter, an industry-wide initiative aimed at improving access to the aviation industry for people with disabilities.
As a member of the Equal Skies Charter, Air Partner is committing to a set of principles and behaviours that promote inclusion for people with disabilities.
As part of this, the company is already implementing several improvements to introduce this positive change, such as providing a range of work trials, work experience and apprenticeships for people with disabilities, and increased disability equality awareness training for its current team members. This is the latest commitment by Air Partner in its journey as a ‘Disability Confident’ employer.
Since embarking upon this journey, Air Partner has adjusted its entire approach to advertising jobs including advert content, criteria and where it advertises. This has positively resulted in an increase in the number of applications received from candidates with disabilities and has welcomed a number of new employees into the business.
Greg Charman, ESG Manager, Air Partner said: “Air Partner is fully committed to embracing diversity across our workforce and in the products and services we offer. Our new partnership with the Equal Skies Charter is another way in which we can take action to demonstrate that we recognise and value differences.
"We want to positively contribute to a world where everyone has equal access to the benefits and opportunities provided by the aviation and aerospace industries. We look forward to developing a longstanding partnership with The Equal Skies Charter.”
As part of its efforts to reach the next stage of its Disability Confident journey, Air Partner is further improving workplace culture by consistently reviewing its products and services to ensure they are accessible and inclusive, engaging with organisations such as JobCentre Plus and Work and Health programme providers to access support for its staff when needed, and is committed to making sure there are no barriers to the development and progression of its disabled staff.
