Textron's Pipistrel leads the charge for the Royal Air Force

In case you missed it, here's another example of business and general aviation helping other aviation sectors become more sustainable.

The Textron-manufactured electric two-seater Pipistrel Velis Electro is now in place at Moray Flying Club (MFC), a not-for-profit Military flying club at RAF Lossiemouth in Scotland. The aircraft - callsign 'Moray 01 Electric' - took to the skies on Sunday 24 March 2024 for its first training flight.

MFC recently leased the aircraft from electric-flying specialists NEBOair, as part of a drive to reduce the environmental and noise impact of their flying. The aircraft is powered by electricity from the grid, like an electric car.

SaxonAir, based at Norwich Airport, also lease a Velis - and a simulator - and offer both leisure and training flights at the airport.
