Airportís marketing chief elected MTA Chair

Bangor International Airportís marketing manager Risteen Bahr has been elected chair of the Maine Tourism Association, reflecting her wide travel industry experience and long commitment to promoting the local region.

Ms. Bahr has held her present position at Bangor International for more than 10 years, spearheading the airportís marketing and communications outreach programme, with particular responsibility for business development and strategic planning.

Previously director of marketing for Bay Ferries, which operates a high-speed ferry service between Maine and Nova Scotia, she was formerly executive director of Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce.

In addition to her role as chair of the Maine Tourism Association, Ms. Bahr is chair of the Bangor Historical Society and immediate past chair of the Down East and Acadia Regional Tourism Organization, The Maine Highlands Regional Tourism Organization for Penobscot and Piscataquis Counties and the Greater Bangor Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Her dedication and commitment to local tourism was recognised in 2012 when she received the Maine Governorís Tourism Award for Commitment to the Community.

Today, the Maine Tourism Association promotes Maine travel in a variety of ways, increasing visitation to the state, creating economic opportunities for our membership and promoting the unique quality of the Maine tourism experience.Ē
