BACA survey reveals 147,000 Member flights during 2015

In order to fully understand the size and activities of its membership, the Baltic Air Charter Association (BACA) recently commissioned WINGX Advance to carry out a study of BACA members.

The survey revealed some incredible results, particularly in terms of the size, scale and positive impact that BACA member companies have on the aviation industry. WINGX carried out the survey towards the end of 2015 so the results give a very up-to-date view of the levels of activity in various sectors of the industry.

Some of the highlights of the survey include:

  • Of the 220 Members of BACA 67% are either charter brokers or aircraft operators.
  • BACA member companies operate a total of 719 aircraft, 34 % are used for passenger and cargo while the biggest BACA fleet segment is Large Jets, 240 aircraft.
  • BACA member companies generated €4.2BN Turnover in 2014 and during 2015 operated 147,000 flights using 1259 airports, connecting 146 countries and over 25,000 city pairs around the world.
  • The most frequently flown BACA member jet is the Excel/XLS and the busiest large cabin type is the Bombardier Global Express.
  • 71 BACA Operator Members have conducted 68,000 handling movements and paid airport fees of €7M.
  • BACA Member companies employ 6,751 people.

Speaking about the survey BACA Chairman Tony Coe comments,"The results of the survey are quite extraordinary in a very positive way. The sheer quantity of flights conducted and revenue generated clearly illustrates the positive impact that BACA members contribute to the international economy."

"The facts and figures demonstrate that when BACA speaks, it speaks on behalf of the industry. I would like to thank BACA members for taking part in the survey and Richard Koe and WINGX for such an interesting and comprehensive review of our membership."

Richard Koe, Managing Director of WINGX added "BACA clearly represents a diverse range of operators, brokers and aviation professionals: membership spanning Europe, North America, Australasia and Russia; business jets from the ultra-long range Gulfstream platform to the Pilatus PC12 turboprop: from charter to air medical to cargo transporter; from MRO to ground transport, catering to professional legal services. Our study indicates that BACA operators are connecting more than 25,000 airport pairs across 146 countries. This activity generated almost €100M in fuel, handling and passenger fees in 2015."
