AMAC Aerospace surpasses expectations on first wide body inspection

Maintenance and completion services specialist, AMAC Aerospace, has completed its first wide body inspection at its state-of-the-art headquarters at EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg.

The AMAC maintenance team performed the 12 year inspection on the B777-200 aircraft at its third new wide body hangar, and delivered the aircraft to a private customer in the Middle East on time, within budget and to the highest quality standard despite a number of unforeseen technical findings.

Following the inspection, Bernd Schramm COO, said: “AMAC Aerospace’s expertise coupled with their on-time delivery has exceeded our expectations. We are delighted with their performance.”

Kadri Muhiddin, AMAC Aerospace Chief Executive Officer and Group Executive Chairman added: “We have demonstrated our capabilities and are extremely proud of our team. With this success under our belt, we look forward to welcoming other esteemed clients with wide body aircraft with requirements for first class aviation maintenance services.”

The company is encouraging aircraft owners and operators to consider its full range of expertise and craftsmanship when selecting a partner for refurbishment and maintenance options. AMAC Aerospace is currently completing a Boeing 777 and 747-8i both for Middle Eastern clients and has also taken on an Airbus A340 for maintenance and refurbishment. It is also currently working on several bids for other narrow and wide body aircraft. AMAC Aerospace was granted European EASA Part 145 approval to undertake heavy base maintenance on the Airbus A330 and A340 Series and Boeing B747-400 and B747-8 Series in September 2012. The company can now accept scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities for airframe and powerplants.

AMAC formally inaugurated its third maintenance and completion hangar for wide-body aircraft at its EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg headquarters in September 2012. The opening of the new state-of-the-art 90,420 sq ft hangar and production facility has been the catalyst for the company’s entrée into providing maintenance for wide-bodied aircraft.

Brazilian Certificate and Operations Specification for Maintenance

In further news, AMAC has recently been granted the Brazilian Certificate and Operations Specification for Aircraft Maintenance by the Civil Aviation Agency of Brazil (ANAC).

The approval allows AMAC to carry out base and line maintenance work on all Brazilian-registered Boeing B737-600/700/800/900 aircraft types at its state-of-the-art headquarters at EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg. In addition, the approval enables AMAC to undertake on-wing engine maintenance, engine removal and installation, replacement of engine components and accessories in accordance with the capability list approved by ANAC as well as undertake ‘Specialist Services’ in Level 3 Non-Destructive Inspections.

“As Brazil’s aviation market continues to expand, we look forward to serving Brazilian owners looking for the excellence and dedication our maintenance teams demonstrate in exceeding the expectations of a discerning clientele,” commented Kadri Muhiddin.

The Brazilian approval adds to the existing broad range of base and line maintenance approvals which AMAC Aerospace has achieved which cover a wide range of aircraft from the versatile Pilatus PC12-NG, for which it is the exclusive Sales Distributor in the Middle East through to the wide body Boeing B747-400 and B747-8 Series Part 145 for which approvals were granted in Autumn 2012.

AMAC’s other international approvals include those from the countries of Aruba, Nigeria, Cameroon, Russia, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the UAE, where it is GCAA approved.

Turkey

A recent addition to AMAC's international approvals is an EASA Part 145 certification awarded to AMAC Aerospace Turkey by the European Aviation Safety Agency.

The approval enables AMAC Aerospace Turkey to undertake all base and line maintenance on aircraft under 5700kg including the Pilatus PC-12 NG. AMAC Aerospace Turkey will serve as the maintenance service centre base for owners of PC-12 NG in the Middle East Region.
